Description
Colt SAA Flattop Target Model Revolver with Factory Letter. 1 Of 84 Made!
This Colt SAA Flattop Target Model revolver is an outstanding example of craftsmanship, complete with a Colt factory letter that confirms its historical significance. Manufactured in 1893, this revolver not only comes with a recent letter from Colt’s historian dated 2019, but it also includes images of an earlier 1961 Colt Historical Records letter. Furthermore, the earlier letter is addressed to Mr. R. H. Vanyek of Los Angeles, CA, and it verifies the original shipping date of 1893 to London, England.
The Colt SAA Revolver features the distinctive flat top frame and sides, along with a dove-tail mounted rear sight. The block-mounted front sight is adjustable and includes a removable blued steel blade, which allows for precise targeting. This Colt SAA Revolver features a full blue finish, while the top of the hammer, rear sight, trigger, and screws display a stunning nitre blue finish. The sides of the hammer gleam brightly, adding to the overall elegance of the piece.
In addition, the grips are two-piece, black, checkered hard rubber, prominently displaying the Rampant Colt trademark in an oval at the top of each grip.
Condition:
This revolver is in excellent condition, it still retains over 90% of its bright original high-polish commercial blue finish. There is minor edge wear on the top strap, muzzle, as well as ejector housing. The rear sight, top of the hammer, frame screws, and trigger maintain most of their nitre blue finish, and all markings and serial numbers are sharp. The left grip has faded to a brown hue, whereas the right grip, in contrast, retains most of its black finish. But both grips remain in excellent condition with crisp checkering. The bore is mirror bright, and the action is crisp and functions perfectly.
This Colt SAA Flattop Target Model revolver is truly an exceptional piece. It not only embodies both rarity and historical significance but is also a must-have for collectors and enthusiasts alike. Therefore, anyone seeking a remarkable addition to their collection should consider this stunning firearm.
In 2012 for example, this remarkable firearm fetched an impressive $23,000 at Rock Island Auction, which serves as a testament to its value and desirability among collectors.
